What to bring to an all-inclusive resort is an important consideration when planning your vacation. Although many resorts provide amenities, you’ll want to pack everything you could possibly need to avoid inconvenient surprises. Even small forgotten items might require an expensive last-minute purchase once you’ve arrived, with resort gift shops notorious for sky-high pricing. By using our comprehensive all-inclusive packing list, you can confidently bring the essentials and extras to maximize both comfort and value during your all-inclusive getaway.
Don’t Leave Home Without These Carry-On Essentials
Be sure to pack the most vital items in your carry-on bag in case your checked luggage faces delays. This includes:
- Travel documents (boarding passes, passport, etc.) – easily accessible for airport security
- Prescriptions in original containers as required by TSA
- Phone charger and back-up charger
- Headphones for in-flight entertainment
- TSA-approved toiletry bag with liquid containers under 3 ounces
- A change of clothes and swimsuit (in case your luggage gets delayed, you can still relax poolside!)
Plan for Every Eventuality: What to Pack in Checked Luggage
Opt for wheeled luggage with 4 multi-directional spinner wheels. This ensures easy mobility whether you have long airport walks between the plane and ground transportation, or need to cover expansive resort grounds.
Wheeled luggage is best, since some airports require you to deplane on the tarmac, while others feature long walks from the gate to ground transportation. I have luggage that has 4 rotating wheels, and I will never go back. Larger resorts can also be spread out, meaning a hike to your room will be easier if you don’t want to wait for a bellman.
In your checked luggage pack your regular sized toiletry bag. Don’t forget reef-safe sunscreen along with a first aid kit including the following items:
- Tylenol
- Benadryl
- Anti-nausea medication
- Pool Float
- Bug Bite Relief
- Antacids
- Yeti Cup
- Liquid IV
- Phone charging cables
- Phone chargers
What to Pack: Clothing Essentials for All-Inclusive Resorts
When packing clothes for your all-inclusive getaway, organization and preparation are key for wrinkle-free travel. Here are some tips:
- Roll clothes instead of folding to prevent wrinkles
- Use packing cubes to separate and contain different categories of clothing (helps avoid a jumbled mess when opening your suitcase!)
- Check the resort’s dress code for different venues before leaving home
You’ll want to cover 3 main clothing categories:
- Casual: shorts, t-shirts, tank tops, sandals, sneakers, workout wear
- Dressy/Formal: For men – Long pants (not jeans), collared shirts, closed toe shoes. For women – skirts, dresses, dress pants, nice sandals.
- Beachwear: Swimsuits, coverups, flip flops, beach bag, sunglasses
Don’t forget a light sweater or jacket for overly air conditioned spaces!
Start Packing Early
We recommend beginning the packing process well in advance of your departure date. Packing early has several advantages:
- Gives you time to narrow down outfit options (we always overpack at first!)
- Much less stressful than last minute, 11th hour packing
- Less likely to forget necessities
- Follow the packing list provided in your travel documents
- Packing light leaves room for souvenirs!
- Invest in a small luggage scale to weigh bags and avoid heavy fees
