Nestled on the shores of the Caribbean Sea, El Dorado Maroma holds a special place in our hearts. After a three-year hiatus, we made the decision to return to this adult-only, all-inclusive resort. Our last visit in April 2021, spent in the exquisite Palafitos (over-water bungalows), left us longing for more. However, we hesitated due to the declining state of the beach, which is essential to our beach-loving souls. Little did we know, we were in for a delightful surprise. After only a 35 minute private transfer we were in Paradise. It’s hard to believe this resort is only 26 miles from the airport!
Serenity Steps Away: Mi Hotelito Beachfront Rooms
We opted for the newly renovated Mi Hotelito beachfront rooms, and true to their name, these rooms were merely steps away from the inviting sand. Nestled between two buildings, we reveled in the convenience of having the recently refurbished Bar 24 swim-up bar right within arm’s reach. This stunning bar now boasts a modern design complete with television screens, allowing us to catch up on our favorite sports teams.
A Gastronomic Adventure: Flavorful Delights Await
El Dorado Maroma’s culinary delights exceeded our expectations. While a few restaurants were closed for refurbishment during our stay (a testament to the resort’s commitment to maintenance), the menus from these establishments were seamlessly incorporated into the offerings at Papitos on different nights. Our taste buds delighted in the unforgettable flavors of Mio, the Italian restaurant that had us hooked with their irresistible beef carpaccio. The Caribbean Grill proved to be a haven for seafood enthusiasts, offering a tantalizing array of fresh catches. Personally, I couldn’t resist the delectable coconut shrimp. As for lunch, dining at Lima Limon allowed us to savor our meals right on the beach, still comfortably clad in our bathing suits. No need to dress up for that cheesburger in paradise! Additionally, the resort offers a vibrant night club, Ricks bar, where we could enjoy lively shows and hit the dance floor. Although our early bedtime prevented us from indulging fully, we were thrilled knowing that beach time would never be compromised.
Crystal-clear Bliss: Embracing the Mexican Coastline
The moment we set foot on El Dorado Maroma’s pristine beach (rated as one of the top 10 in the world), we were greeted by crystal-clear waters that beckoned us to dive in. Gone were our concerns about sargassum, as the beach was surprisingly free of it. Lounging on the beach beds scattered along the shore became our daily ritual, soaking in the sun’s warm rays until late afternoon. Happy hour brought us to Bar 24, one of the resort’s two swim-up bars. We were fortunate to be served by the amazing bartenders, Clemente and Renee, who anticipated our drink preferences before we even asked. The exceptional service was not limited to the bars; our beach needs were attentively looked after by Diego and the remarkable beach staff.
Adventures at Your Doorstep: Marina Maroma’s Allure
One of the standout advantages of staying at El Dorado Maroma is its close proximity to Marina Maroma. This convenient location allowed us to embark on water excursions within walking distance, sparing us the long bus rides typically associated with such activities. Just a mere 200 yards down the beach, we were able to engage in deep-sea fishing, parasailing, snorkeling tours, and so much more. The accessibility to these thrilling experiences without sacrificing an entire day was a true blessing.
Homecoming to Paradise: El Dorado Maroma’s Everlasting Charm
Returning to El Dorado Maroma felt like coming home after an extended absence. It’s no wonder that the idea for Latitude 21 Travel was born on this very beach. This resort holds a special place in our hearts, and our recent visit reaffirmed its status as my personal favorite. The awe-inspiring beach, top-notch service from the staff, the feel of authentic Mexico and the wide array of dining options made for an unforgettable experience.
